Welcome to the Murray Arms Hotel, a family friendly business set in the heart of Gatehouse of Fleet.
Starting life in 1760, the building began its days as a coaching inn for weary travellers and still retains many of its original features today.
Now however it boasts fourteen en-suite bedrooms, each complete with flat screen televisions, tea and coffee making facilities, as well as luxury toiletries by Scottish Fine Soaps.
Whether you are looking to book a relaxing stay, or are just joining us for a drink, everyone will find a warm welcome here at the Murray Arms Hotel. We are happy to cater to both two and four-legged friends alike.
You can book with us online, or telephone directly on 01557 814207 if you would prefer to speak to reception, or have any special requests. We are always happy to help.
In and around the Gatehouse of Fleet you will find stunning scenery.
There are plenty of picturesque walks and bike trails, whether it be through hills, woodlands or trips down to the beach, miles and miles of natural beauty and coastline surround us.
Popular with all the locals however is GOLF. For those of you who are keen golfers, there are plenty of places to play and test your skills.
However if golf is not your game, Gatehouse also has its own tennis courts, football field, children’s bicycle tours, and quiet fishing spots. Horse riding is also only a short drive away.
Yet for those of you looking for a more relaxing holiday, beautiful gardens, ancient castles, abbeys and stone circles are just a few hidden paths away. It’s what makes Gatehouse of Fleet the perfect location for exploring Dumfries & Galloway.
WHAT OUR GUESTS RECOMMEND
While most go for the locally produced, Cream O’ Galloway ice cream (The Honeycomb is a particular favourite!) The visitor centre is also a popular place for outdoor exploring and wildlife spotting – watch out for those adders!
Explore the rolling Galloway glens and hills to discover picturesque forest trails, three friendly visitor centres, wonderful wildlife and a long and colourful history.
Galloway Forest Park has been designated by the International Dark-Sky Association as only the fourth Dark Sky Park in the world, and the first in the UK named a Gold Tier park for its breathtaking and rare stargazing conditions.
Most people are lucky to see one or two red kites at a time. However if you appear around 2pm at the site (prime feeding time) visitors have reported seeing up to one hundred of these amazing birds descending from the skies. Well worth a visit!
Our hotel favours a wide selection of comfortable rooms suited to fit all needs.
If you don’t see the configuration of beds you require on the on-line booking system, please contact us directly to discuss your requirements; in many cases we can add extra beds or cots to your booking. Note, we are also happy to accept dogs at a small, supplementary charge.
Among our superior rooms is our spacious ground floor bedroom featuring a walk-in shower, super king-size bed and ornate fireplace. It is perfect for disabled or less able-bodied people, but is also popular with couples looking for a romantic night away.
With comfy beds, flat screen tv’s and an ensuite, what more could you ask for in a double room? These bedrooms are well suited for couples, but are also available at a slightly discounted rate for solo travellers looking for more room to spread out.

Our twin rooms are light, airy and spacious, each with their own ensuite and perfectly suited for friends and family prepared to brave their roommates snoring.
We have one spacious single room, perfect for the solo traveller or visiting businessman looking for some quiet time away. It has a surface suited for those needing to work a laptop, and plenty of floor space to spread a yoga mat!
Up the stairs… and up the stairs again, right at the top of the hotel, hide our two family rooms. Each holds a double, and two single beds great for families or friends looking to share. Rates vary depending on level of occupancy.
Attention Guests! Please be aware that our hotel has NO elevator. Aside from the Superior Ground Floor Room, the rest of our accommodation requires guests to be able to climb stairs.
As we currently hold the ONLY ground floor accommodation in Gatehouse of Fleet, we highly recommend booking in advance should you require the downstairs room.
